Terms of Service

Version 1 · effective 1 October 2026 · applies to cifrova.com and the Cifrova Personal app

These terms are the agreement between you and Marquez Consulting Unipessoal Lda, NIF 516048538, Rua Ilha de Santiago, Lote A46C, 8200-317 Albufeira, Portugal ("we", "us"), for the use of Household (the "Service"). By creating a household or using the Service you accept them. If you use the Service on behalf of someone else in your household, you confirm they agree too.

1. What the Service is

Cifrova Personal is a home budgeting service. It reads bank movements you connect through a licensed open-banking provider, files them into categories, keeps budgets, goals, loans and a net worth view, and sends you summaries by email. Parts of it use artificial intelligence (Claude, by Anthropic) to suggest categories, write summaries and, with the Advisor add-on, answer questions about your own numbers.

The Service is a tool for keeping track of your money. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing it shows or writes is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. Prices of listed and crypto assets come from public sources and may be delayed or wrong. Check anything that matters with a qualified professional before acting on it.

2. Your account and your household

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. Sign-in is by email link; keep your email account secure, as anyone with access to it can sign in as you.
  • A household is the space where the data lives. Its owner can invite members, choose the plan, export and delete the household. Members see the same data.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping your bank consents current. We cannot see or change anything at your bank; the connection is read-only.

3. Bank connections

Bank data reaches the Service through Fintable, an open-banking aggregator operating under the PSD2 framework, with your explicit consent given to Fintable. Consents last up to 90 days and you renew them in Fintable. We do not hold your bank credentials. Coverage depends on the aggregator and on your bank; if a bank is not supported, you can import statements by file instead. Availability of the feed is not something we control, and an interruption at the aggregator or the bank is not a fault of the Service.

4. Plans, trial and payment

  • Trial. A new household gets a free trial of 30 days with every feature, including the Advisor. No card is needed to start. When it ends the app closes its door until a plan is chosen; your data stays for 90 days, then is deleted unless you subscribe.
  • Personal plan. A subscription billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. It renews automatically at the price shown at checkout until you cancel from Plan and billing. Cancelling stops the next charge; the Service keeps working until the end of the period already paid.
  • Founders price. The Personal plan billed yearly at a price that does not rise for as long as the subscription runs without interruption, offered to a limited number of households as announced on the pricing page. It is personal to one household and cannot be transferred; if the subscription is cancelled or lapses, the price is not restored.
  • Advisor add-on. A subscription on top of any plan, with a monthly limit of questions shown on the billing page. Unused questions do not carry over.
  • Prices and VAT. Prices are in euros. VAT is added or included as shown at checkout, depending on your country. We may change prices with 30 days' notice by email; the new price applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before it.
  • Payment provider. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store card numbers.

5. Thirty-day guarantee, withdrawal and refunds

Thirty-day money-back guarantee. Any first payment (the first charge of any subscription) is refunded in full if you ask within 30 days of it, no reason needed. Write to [email protected] from the email of your account; the refund goes back the way it was paid within 10 working days. This goes beyond the 14-day right of withdrawal EU consumers have by law, which you keep in any case; because the Service starts at once, you agree that it begins during the withdrawal period. After the 30 days, renewals are not refunded except where the law requires it or the Service was unavailable for a significant part of the period paid; cancelling stops the next charge and the Service runs to the end of the period paid.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to break the law, to access data that is not yours, to probe or overload it, to resell it, or to feed the AI features with content meant to deceive. Do not connect accounts you are not entitled to see. We may suspend a household that does any of this, after telling you where we can.

7. Your data

Your data belongs to you. We process it to run the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. You can export everything as files at any time from Settings, and delete the household, which erases its data as described there. We do not sell your data and we do not use your bank data to train AI models.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service running at all times but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or retire features; if a change removes something essential to a paid plan, you may cancel and receive a proportional refund of the unused period. We back up data daily; keep your own exports for anything you cannot afford to lose.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, its code, design and texts are ours or licensed to us. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use it under these terms. Category names, budgets and notes you create are yours.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for decisions you take based on what the Service shows, for the acts of your bank, the aggregator, the AI provider or the payment provider, or for losses caused by your own credentials being used by someone else. Our total liability for any claim in a year is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 100 € if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Portuguese or EU consumer law.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time by cancelling the plan and deleting the household. We can end the agreement for a serious breach of these terms, or if we stop operating the Service, in which case we give at least 60 days' notice by email, refund any unused prepaid period, and keep your export available during the notice.

12. Complaints, law and disputes

Write to [email protected] first; we answer within 10 working days. Consumers in Portugal may use the Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico and the arbitration centres listed at consumidor.gov.pt; consumers anywhere in the EU may use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform. These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Disputes go to the courts of Portugal, without prejudice to the rights consumers have under the law of their own country of residence.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we email the household's owner at least 30 days before they apply; if you do not agree, cancel before that date. The version and date at the top tell you which terms apply.
